Recent advancements in MRI technology are changing the face of how prostate cancer is diagnosed in Queensland. Multiparametric MRIs of the prostate aid in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, identify intermediate or high risk cancers, and help target specific lesions in the prostate.
A MRI guided prostate biopsy is a relatively new technique used to help diagnose prostate cancer. The technique involves the Multiparametric MRI findings to guide Dr Swindle to biopsy, with great accuracy, the suspicious looking areas in the prostate.
Dr Swindle has now been performing MRI guided prostate biopsies for the past 2 years and has published several papers on magnetic resonance of the prostate.
Has been using MRI for the staging prostate cancer over the past 11 years and has read over 2000 prostate MRI’s.
Dr Swindle undertook a Masters of Surgery in magnetic resonance of the prostate at Sydney University Dr Swindle undertook 2 years of research into MRI of the prostate at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr Swindle performs MRI Guided Prostate Biopsies at The Wesley Hospital and Queensland X-ray at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
